Summary: Responsible for internal and public web sites. Designs and maintains web pages, templates and graphics, and provide support for the Institute?s web users. Helps to develop and implement the Institute?s web-related policies and decisions. Creates specifications, prototypes, develops, maintains web pages and applications for LRI departments
Job Responsibilities: Manages the entire work flow of web publishing and application development for the Institute. Oversees the day-to-day operations of internal and public web sites, in close collaboration with the Institute?s Computing Services group, who ensures the high availability of web servers. Prototypes, develops, and maintains internal and public web pages for the Institute?s Departments, Cores Services and Administrative Offices. Leads development efforts to develop web applications for the Institute?s intranet and internet presences. Researches and installs web server and web development software, defines specifications for installation, and recommendations for software to be used for web development. Writes project plans and creates specifications for development of applications. Participates in team development of institutional standards for the use of internet technology. May travel in the course of keeping abreast of developments relevant to the Institute?s web strategy. Attends meetings and continuing education courses for the same purpose. Responsible for managing others and web development. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or related are.
Experience: Minimum of five years experience with open-source technologies and programming languages, such as XML, MySQL, Perl, and PHP, along with three years of experience with Apache server administration. Experience with web site management, using relevant software, such as Macromedia Studio and Adobe Creative Suite, is required. Thorough knowledge of (X)HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required. Ability to create and optimize attractive web graphics is required. Demonstrated system design experience and two years of web server software administration and application development.

Physical Requirements: Manual and finger dexterity. May sit or stand for extended periods of time. Requires working under stressful situations and working irregular hours.
